Cabinet Finish for "Oiled Walnut"?

Another question for possibly tweaking my old Model 19's...

Over the years, I have tried to use furniture grade "lemon oil" to keep the walnut cabinets looking new. It seems like an endless task. Also seems like the wood is not at all well protected from anything set on top. I try to keep people from setting drinks on them, but at times it just happens. So now I am thinking of a sealer... I don't particularly care for the plasticy look of polyurethane. So I was hoping someone else has already been down this path and found a decent product to make the cabinets look good without altering the original "oiled" look.

Has anyone found such a product?

How about fitting a piece of glass on top of them that should protect them..But as far as waxing or something try Howards Feed & Wax.. If you have something that needs a bit more restoration Howards Restore-A-Finish.. Howards IMO is the best stuff out there for finishing.

We had a furniture refinisher do our three Hill Craft cabinets. I did the grille work using cloth in black , and a spray 3M adhesive from Parts Ex. A sheet of masonite was cut to support the grill cloth and formed the bowed front.

How do you fix a raised water stain in an oiled veneered finish?

I did not do the refinishing, since the speakers had water marks when the left… and they came home like new. I think they just sanded the tops and refinished them.

The way you get rid of water stains/rings is to use a cabinet scraper to scrape the stain off the wood which is generally only a few thousands of an inch in depth. You need to be very careful when working with veneers so that you don't scrap through the veneer. Sanding will work, however, sanding is more aggressive than scraping by someone experienced in doing it.
